Dr. PJ is the author of Pursuing Legacy, an informative and encouraging guide on building career legacies. She has also contributed chapters to: Sisterhood Story (a fictional anthology); Global Perspectives on Issues and Solutions in
Urban Education (chapter on counseling the unemployed); I am What I Become (a volume series on identity and lifelong learning). The latter project is scheduled for release in late 2020.
She has spent more than 15 years in the nonprofit sector educating, counseling, training, and developing adults for career advancement, community leadership, and scholastic achievement. She is also known for her advocacy for small businesses, specifically historically disenfranchised firms. Throughout her career, she has received awards for her work in the community and is highly recognized and respected for her professionalism, project management accomplishments, and presentations on career-related issues and personnel development. During her doctoral candidacy in human resource development, she developed an interest in the familial influence on careers and has since become a field expert in the research of career legacies and its parallelism to workforce development.
Dr. PJ, as she is affectionately referred to because of her personable approach, is the founder of PJ & Co., a consultancy specializing in career development services. Additionally, she is actively involved in various community and professional organizations centered on human resource development, adult learning, and urban education. She also enjoys advocating for Successful Shoes, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization she founded to provide encouragement and support through shoe donations and career development services to women in transitional programs and facilities.
